Have you thought about a unity ceremony?
Whether you choose a handfasting, an oathing stone, a treasure chest / time capsule, or other symbol, your wedding will be uniquely yours.
Your questions are always welcome!
Handfasting - Tying the knot
Handfasting is an ancient custom which has been brought up to date for the 21st century.
You would choose ribbons or cords, with colors that might be symbolic, to have your hands tied together. It is from handfasting that we get the phrase "Tying the knot."
Oathing stone - Set in stone
You two would choose a stone to hold in your four hands as you said your wedding vows.
It is from the oathing stone that we get the phrase "Set in stone."
Treasure chest/Time capsule
Capture the moments from your first date through your engagement to the day that you say "I do." in a treasure chest or time capsule.
Will you write love letters to each other? Preserve special keepsakes? Or maybe a bottle of wine to be opened on a special anniversary....
Sand ceremony
You can include your whole family in a sand ceremony.
Some couples have their parents pour a base of sand, then pour sand together symbolizing their joining. Children can also add sand, too.
Pebbles or shells
Your guests and / or your wedding party could put their best wishes into stones or shells, then combine them in a bowl or vase for you to keep in a special place in your home.
Unity candle
You two would use taper candles to light a pillar candle, joining your flames as you join your lives in marriage.
